Daily Activities

Day 1, Light aircraft transfer from Maun Airport to Jao Camp for 2 nights . Jao Camp is situated in a private reserve on a remote large island, to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Across the waterway in front of camp, guests have access to open flood plains and savannah for a wonderful Okavango experience. Each of the unique and beautiful twin-bedded canvas and thatched rooms has been individually hand crafted. The rooms are built under a canopy of shady trees, with en-suite bathroom comprising of a large bath and double basin vanity. There is also an outside shower under the stars for those more adventurous guests wanting to shower closer to nature. The rooms are raised off the ground and each has a private sala offering wonderful views of the surrounding flood plains. There is a plunge pool and an outdoor “boma” for dining under the stars as well as an excellent wine cellar. Jao also has a Salon where the full time therapist offers a wide range of massage therapies.

Day 2, activities at Jao include mokoros (dug-out canoes), boats, fishing, day and night game drives and guided walks. The area is extremely seasonal and the annual flood transforms the habitat from dry green open plains in summer to shallow flood plains in the winter. Access to this area is only by aircraft.

Day 3, after a morning activity you depart Mombo Camp by light aircraft transfer to Kings Pool for 2 nights. Kings Pool is located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Magnificently located in a private reserve in the Linyanti area, on the western boundary of Chobe National Park, the new Premier Camp overlooks the hippo filled Kings Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River to the north. Luxuriously appointed tented suites all offer a large bedroom with private bathroom, a lounge, a private plunge pool and an outdoor sala. The accommodations are sheltered under cool thatch and are linked to the main living area by elevated wooden walkways. The thatched main lounge, dining room and pub are on a raised wooden deck. There is a cool filtered swimming pool sunk into the deck.

Day 4, The private Linyanti Concession borders on Chobe National Park, and is not subject to the same restrictions that apply in National Parks. Guests can enjoy game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and walks. In addition, the camp has a double-decker boat that cruises the Linyanti River, offering wonderful opportunities to view game and birds from the water when water levels allow. There are also a great hides in the area where guests can view wildlife peacefully and a brand new hide under the ground - eye level is the ground where you can sit and almost touch the elephants toes!The Linyanti Concession has a large wildlife population, but is most noted for its high density of elephant herds, especially in the winter months. There is an excellent concentration of general plains game. All the major predators are regularly seen. Ornithologists and amateur birders alike enjoy the wide variety of bird species to be seen.

Day 5, after a morning activity you depart after a morning activity you depart Kings Pool by light aircraft transfer to Maun Airport where you complete your Journey In The Wilderness adventure.
