Daily Activities:

Day 1, Light aircraft transfer from Maun Airport to Chitabe Camp for 2 nights. Chitabe Camp is bordered by the Moremi Game reserve to the north and east and offers guests “Classical Okavango” scenery. The concession’s boundary in the east is the Gomoti Channel and the Santantadibe River in the west. The area is made up of a superb variety of habitats which include permanent waterways and marshlands, dry acacia and mopane woodland, riverine areas, grasslands and seasonal flood plains. The camp itself is situated on one of the most beautiful islands in the Delta. Surrounded by ancient ebony, leadwood and sausages trees, Chitabe offers eight luxurious twin bedded East African style tens, built on elevated wooden decks under a lush canopy of indigenous trees. Each luxury tent has en-suite facilities with hot and cold running water. A separate thatched dining room, bar and lounge area, linked by raised walkways, offers superb views over an open floodplain.

For an even smaller camp, Chitabe Trails Camp accommodates eight guests in the same luxurious tents, built on the ground, with en-suite bathrooms, outside shower, private dining room, bar, lounge area and a pool.

Day 2, Chitabe offers guests game drives (in 4x4 vehicles) both during the day and at night, and nature walks. Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog are among the major game attractions of the area. Guests could also see Zebra, Reedbuck, Red Lechwe, Sitatunga, Sable, Roan, Impala and all the plains game.

Day 3, After a morning activity you depart Mombo Camp by light aircraft transfer to Little Vumbura for 2 nights. Little Vumbura is a beautiful tented camp situated to the north of Mombo in a private reserve bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta. The tented rooms are large and comfortably appointed and each have an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, a shower and flush toilet - as well as an outside shower under the stars. The camp has a plunge pool. Little Vumbura offers both water and land activities.

Day 4, Mekoros (dug-out canoes) traverse the flood plains under the guidance of our experienced polers. Open 4x4 Land Rovers allow guests to get close to animals in the savannah areas. Guests usually have the opportunity to see Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Sable and Buffalo, along with all the plains animals, providing an excellent all round wildlife experience in this remote corner of the Okavango. Walks (on request basis only) around the islands as well as night drives give guests the opportunity to enjoy Africa from a different perspective. Access into this area is only by aircraft and then guests are transferred by means of vehicle and then mokoro or boat to the camp from the airstrip.

Day 5, after a morning activity you depart Little Vumbura by light aircraft transfer to Duma Tau Camp for 2 nights. DumaTau is a luxury tented camp, in a private 125 000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve which borders onto the western boundary of Chobe National Park in northern Botswana. The camp is built under a shady grove of mangosteen trees, overlooking a large hippo-filled lagoon within the Linyanti waterway system. The source of the Savuti Channel is close to the camp and game drives up the Savuti is one of the highlights of the area. The rooms are raised off the ground and are under thatch with canvas walls, allowing guests to enjoy the night sounds of Africa from the comfort of their beds. The bathroom facilities are en-suite and each room has an additional outside shower. There is a dining room, pub, lounge, plunge pool and a guest toilet with a fantastic view. The region has all the habitat diversity to make it a haven for wildlife.

Day 6, activities are diverse and allow guests time on the water, on land and on foot. Day and night game drives are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles along the Savuti Channel and the banks of Linyanti River. There are many hides in the area where guests can enjoy wildlife viewing away from a vehicle. One of the best is right at the source of the Savuti and many species of game and birdlife can usually be enjoyed from this hide. The area is famous for its Elephant. Huge herds congregate in winter along the waterways and lagoons. During these dry months Sable and Roan traverse the flood plains, along with Impala, Zebra, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Lechwe, Tsessebe and other plains game in the area

Day 7, after a morning activity you depart Little Vumbura by light aircraft transfer to Maun Airport where you complete your Journey In The Wilderness adventure.
