A combination of Old World charm and contemporary luxuries is what makes the Fancourt Hotel so distinctive. At Fancourt, guests can choose between a room in the beautifully restored Manor House or one of the many stately Garden Suites and Studios, which are all newly refurbished. Whatever your choice, we can guarantee your holiday or business stay will be most memorable.
Manor House
At the Manor House, you will find a restful haven in a building with a history dating back to the beginnings of the 19th century: in 1847 Henry Fancourt White established a workers' base at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains for the construction of the Montagu Pass, which you can still travel on. Now a National Monument, the Manor House with its 34 bedrooms is situated in a wooded parkland and is the perfect base for your leisure or conference activities.
Garden Suites
Fancourt's Garden Suites and Studios offer guests the chance to rest in the most peaceful setting of all - the magnificent gardens. Depending on your specific requirements, choose from the Garden Studios or the One or Two-Bedroomed Garden Suites. All are just a few steps away from the Fancourt's renowned tree-and flower-lined garden avenues; and some offer stunning views of the golf course as well.
Oaklands
Oaklands recaptures the English origins of nearby George with rustic thatch roofing, dormer windows and a country garden.
Like the gracious Fancourt Manor House, Oaklands has its roots in local history. Just a few minutes drive away from the 515 hectare Fancourt estate, it dates to the building of the scenic Montagu Pass in 1849 when it was owned by the overseer of the labor camp.
The peaceful little complex consists of a main house and self-contained guest cottage, first a blacksmith's shop and later served as stables. The immaculately restored buildings face one another across a flower-filled garden and swimming pool. Both are double storey and between them accommodate eight in ultra luxury.
Original ceiling and floor timbers, some of which are still in place, are complemented by wooden features such as oak built-in beds and wall units which enhance the old world charm of the architecture and setting.
Furnished with character and style, Oaklands' security system ensures total privacy along with manor house living. A home away from home, pets, children and all.
While guests have full access to Fancourt and its magnificent facilities, Oaklands operates independently.
Glentana
Glentana, stunningly poised high above the Indian Ocean, offers the ultimate in seclusion, privacy - and luxury, only 30 minutes from Fancourt.
Looking for total anonymity? Glentana, a romantic timber lodge on 43 remote hectares on the ocean's edge with only birds and the surge of the waves breaking the silence, is the perfect escape.
Perched on the clifftop between Glentana beach and the Maalgate River on the rugged Garden Route coastline, Glentana maintains Fancourt's world-renowned standards of excellence and symbolizes the vision of its owners Sabine and Hasso Plattner to add exciting new dimensions to tourism in South Africa.
In contrast to the rough terrain the lodge is relaxing and very comfortable. Blue dominates in the elegant decor to reflect the ocean view which extends to the horizon. Picture wall charts remind that dolphins and whales are likely to disport themselves in the waters below.
Designed with more than honeymooners in mind - there is one cozy double bedroom - the spacious proportions of the living area can accommodate one-day executive think tanks for highly private corporate decisions in ultra comfort.
In addition to an extensive lounge, a covered verandah deck with outdoor seating runs along two sides of the building. There are two showers and toilets, a well-equipped kitchen (which Fancourt will stock in advance) and gas-generated power.
A private, small golden beach is accessed by a wooden stairway of 200 steps.
Morning Glory Restaurant
Overlooking the first tee and fairway of the Outeniqua course enjoy a healthy meal or a light snack in a picture postcard setting. This restaurant operates on a daily menu, making the most use of local fresh produce.
