Leisure activities in this spectacularly scenic area include bird watching, fishing, horse riding, mountain biking, hiking trails and whale and dolphin watching. Only a short drive from the Hotel are six famous golf courses; the Cango Caves, ostrich and cheetah farms at Oudsthoorn; as well as the many attractions of George and Plettenberg Bay. One of the major features at Lake Pleasant is a fully equipped Wellness Centre, ideally suited for mid-week, weekend or any day breakaways for a bit of serious pampering or intense relaxation essential for the overworked and stressed.
The natural freshwater lake, Groenvlei, once home
to hippos, provides visitors with excellent fishing, sailing and boating
opportunities. This scenic lake is a haven for birds such as the Brownhooded
Kingfisher and Darter. Open Land Rover nature drives and guided nature walks
through the dense woodland of the indigenous Milkwood forests in the adjacent
pristine Goukamma Nature and Marine Reserve can be arranged. Outstanding
views of the rugged coastline and fine displays of fynbos make this a memorable
experience. The reserve supports prolific birdlife and a variety of lichen,
grasses and majestic Milkwood trees. Rare African Black Oystercatchers are
a breathtaking site skimming over the ocean. Cruises are on offer on our
boat "Yellowbill".

Knysna and the lakes
Lake Pleasant is situated in the heart of the Lake area of the Garden Route and forms the perfect base from which to explore... Knysna is also well-known for its hand-crafted wooden furniture. While in the area, look out for the famous elephants of the Tsitsikamma Forest or visit Noetzie with its fairy-tale castle, and don't forget the little stone church at Belvidere.
