Saxon and the Shamwari Game Reserve took top honors in several categories at the prestigious annual World Travel Awards ceremony that took place at The Plaza in New York on 13 October 2003. The World Travel Awards are the most comprehensive independent global travel awards in the world and are voted for and driven by the travel trade.
The Saxon received the award for "World's Leading Boutique Hotel" for
the fourth year in a row and was up against many established international
hotels including hotels in Tokyo, United States and Singapore.
