While
South Africa has nearly every form of recreation you might desire,
most visitors to Singita and the surrounding area are here primarily
to view wildlife. This area of South Africa is an absolutely awesome
game-viewing destination. With vast protected areas, we have more
variety and sheer abundance of game than almost anywhere else
on earth.
Once
you arrive at Singita, you’ll have an opportunity to freshen up,
have a drink, relax and prepare yourself for your late afternoon
game safari experience. If you’ve never been on a safari, you’re
in for the experience of a lifetime. You can’t imagine what its
like until you’ve actually had the experience.
Your
ranger and tracker, both well trained and very experienced in
their work, will meet you at your lodge and assist you aboard
a specially equipped Landrover where you will receive an introduction
to the area and be given some very important information to help
you enjoy your experience. In this part of Africa there is a cornucopia
of animal and plant life but what you might see on any given day
or safari can’t be guaranteed. While you may not see everything
on any single game drive, you can expect to see antelope, buffalo,
elephant, giraffe, hippo, leopard, lion, rhino, springbok, zebra
and much more. Sometimes, your ranger may even stop and take you
for a short walk to get closer to a particular group of animals.
Rest assured, your safety is of utmost importance but when you
return you will have seen enough wildlife to be thrilled and ready
for the next day’s experience. While on your drive, your ranger
and tracker will also point out unusual plants, birds, geological
formations and even show you specific animal tracks and point
out how they track many of these animals not only from their tracks
but also from the way the animal marks it’s territory.
When
that magical sunset arrives, you’ll be treated to “Sundowners”,
a special treat of drinks and snacks as you relax and enjoy the
solitude that you can experience only in the vast expanse of wilderness.
After Sundowners you are on your wat to see the wonders of the
nocturnal predators who come out after sundown. Gradually you
will make your way back to your lodge where you can shower, relax,
have a drink and get ready for a delicious African dinner hosted
by your ranger guide. It’s a great time to ask those questions
you may have forgotten to ask while on your game drive.
After
a refreshing night’s sleep, you’ll be awakened very early, have
a hot beverage and snack and be ready for your early morning game
drive. You will find many wild animals are most active in the
early morning when it is cool and in the late afternoon near sunset.
Again, there’s no guarantee as to what you might see, but be assured,
your ranger and tracker were up very early to scout the terrain.
After an exciting early morning drive, you’re ready to return
to your lodge for a magnificent breakfast. After breakfast, you’re
free to spend your mid-day relaxing by the pool, going on a foot
safari or exploring other sights near your camp.
While
there are many activities available for your entertainment, you’ll
find the game drives to be one of the highlights of your trip
to South Africa.
