Lion Sands' Ivory Lodge is about African Euro elegance, sophistication yet simplicity, boldness yet balance, ebony & ivory, perfect harmony, exclusivity, sensitivity & complete privacy.

Ivory Lodge has been built on the banks of the Sabie River with magnificent views, extending onto the open sand banks of the Kruger National Park. There are 6 ultra luxurious suites with en-suite bathroom, outdoor & inside shower, courtyard, lounge with fireplace, wooden viewing deck, patio & private plunge pool. The bedroom & bathroom areas are air-conditioned and overhead fans cool the bedrooms and lounges. All rooms have mini-bar, telephone and internet access. The suites are 165 m² in size and are positioned at least 20 metres apart, being linked to all areas by raised wooden walkways.

They all have breathtaking views over the Sabie River, a setting where game viewing can be done from the luxury of one's private suite - Africa's finest bedrooms! The entrance area is separate from the main lodge in order to ensure that guests arriving and departing have no impact on the other overnight guests. The main and entrance area comprise a private lounge, wooden viewing decks, boardroom, wine cellar, heath spa, curio shop & both an indoor and open-air (Boma)dining area.

The rooms at River Lodge offer respite and protection from the lowveld heat. The interior is a tranquil purple and cream haven, cool in the summer, cozy in the winter. The bathroom, with its tranquil look and pebble-inlaid floors complements the bushveld well. Each bedroom has its own deck with a view of the river.

The swimming pool is arguably the best game viewing spot in the summer months. With an uninterrupted view of the river and the rising bush beyond it is not uncommon to spot an elephant or giraffe while doing the backstroke.

The Lounge is modern yet its fabric is distinctly ethnic. It’s open and cool in the summer yet comfortably warm in the winter. The lounge chairs are inviting yet the handsom bar is enticing. The coffee table books are impressive yet the ranger’s tale is intriguing.

The Health Spa is appropriately named “Lalamuka” which is the Shangaan word for “unwind.” Facial therapies, aromatheraphy, reflexology, massages, aqua treatment, whatever your medicine, you’ll come out feeling naturally fit.

Regardless of the meal occasion, your entire dining experience will be memorable whether at the river hide, dry river-bed venue or under the African sky on an open plain. Dinner by the light of paraffin lamps and a big open campfire make your stay at Lion Sands a spectacular and memorable experience.
