Plettenberg Park is situated on 200ha of land with approximately 3km of cliff faced shoreline . The park has three natural wetlands plus a large dam filled with bass. The indigenous vegetation consists of fynbos and proteas .

The park abounds with small game and animals such as grysbok, mongoose, baboons, bushbuck and cape clawless otter as well as several species of snake. Over 65 bird species have been noted on the reserve including loerie, herons, falcons, crowned eagles, spotted eagle owls, giant kingfishers, sunbirds and cormorants.

Plettenberg Park has an outstanding coastline which is an excellent platform from which to view the humpback whales that visit this stretch of ocean in winter, as well as the numerous schools of dolphin that are playful residents all year round.

Relax in the sun at our cove beach situated below the hotel, or spend the day around the hotel swimming pool whilst savouring all the amenities on offer. Boat trips can be arranged to view the seals, dolphins, sharks, penguins, sea-birds or whales.

Travel on foot through the T sitsikamma forest or stretch your legs along the Outeniqua Coastline and feast your eyes on the wonders of creation. Experience the many nature walks that meander through the park, or for a complete contrast, travel to P lettenberg Bay itself. The renowned Robberg Nature Reserve is just a short distance away. Hike on any well signposted trails to nearby Kranshoek Bay and discover its spectacular wave-lashed rocks.

Explore the nature’s valley lagoon, river and sandy beach (30 minutes drive) – canoeing trips are available at the lagoon.

Visit the old whaling station and the chapel of St Andrews.

Take time to view Monkeyland – a primate sanctuary for captive-bred species.
