With it's proximity to Sea Point, Cape Town, the Wine Country of Constantia and Stellenbosch the Winchester House Mansion is a central base for enjoying the many recreation choices in the area. They include:

• There are many lovely soft white sand beaches in or close to Sea Point and Cape Town. All are very beautiful tourism attractions.
• Table Mountain is a world famous landmark and covers an area of amazing natural beauty and importance.
• There are several historic wine routes around Cape Town, where wine has been produced for over 300 years. The Winelands contains beautiful old wine estates in between lovely mountains.
• Cape Town and surrounding areas have some excellent land-based whale watching spots, from where you can see enormous whales.
• The Waterfront Harbor, Shopping and Entertainment complex is one of Africa's biggest tourism attractions. It includes a wonderful aquarium, busy harbor and many interesting shops and restaurants.
• Robben Island nature reserve and prison museum has become a symbol of hope and unity, largely through Nelson Mandela who was jailed on the island.
• Cape Point Nature Reserve is another major tourism attraction. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife close to Cape Town.
• Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is a wonderful botanical garden on the slopes of Table Mountain where you can see some of the thousands of plant species that make up the Cape Peninsula's floral kingdom.
• Townships are where the poorer people of Cape Town live. Despite bad conditions, the people here are very friendly and warm, and enjoy a lively culture.
• The Bo-Kaap area of Cape Town is an intriguing historical area of the Cape Muslims, with pretty cobbled streets, Victorian architecture, colourful mosques and beautiful views.
• If you love nature, Cape Town has remarkable natural areas with brilliant hiking, bird watching, whale watching, and all sorts of other nature-related activities and tourism attractions.
• There are excellent sports facilities including many great golf courses, gyms, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools.
• Water sports enthusiasts can surf, swim, dive, water ski, water surf, kayak or paddle ski at one of the many beaches.
